Rivera Employment Law was founded by a former BigLaw attorney to deliver excellent value to clients by modernizing and streamlining the way law is practiced. We handle everything related to the employment relationship between an employer and its employees. Unlike most law firms, we focus exclusively on providing advice and counsel, and not handling litigation. This means that we focus 100% of our time on providing legal solutions before workplace issues ever get to litigation. Whether it is by making sure your employee handbook and personnel policies are up-to-date and compliant with the law, rewriting your employee agreements to make them as airtight as possible, or conducting workplace investigations of employee complaints to resolve disputes, we do everything possible to minimize the risk of legal claims.
Experience That Matters
Before founding Rivera Employment Law, Kevin Rivera started his career at one of the world’s top business law firms. He is an experienced attorney devoted to providing high-level legal work, counsel and advice for entrepreneurs, startups, and companies of all sizes across a wide variety of industries including technology, media, law, entertainment, finance, real estate, manufacturing, construction, and hospitality. Whether conducting workplace investigations for Fortune 100 companies, or advising startups and mom and pop businesses with a handful of employees, Kevin prides himself on providing the highest level of service and has built this firm on that guiding principle.
Kevin began his legal career at Sheppard, Mullin, Richter & Hampton in the firm’s Los Angeles office in 2006, where he represented and advised employers of all sizes and across industries for 7 years. Kevin’s practice focuses on advising, training, auditing and investigating workplaces to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local laws. He advises employers in all aspects of employment law, reviews and drafts personnel policies and documents, investigates workplace complaints, represents employers in administrative hearings, and audits workplaces for compliance issues. He services clients located all over California, as well as clients whose headquarters are overseas or out of state, but have regional operations in California.
Kevin received his J.D. from UC Berkeley and his B.A. from Cal State Fullerton. He is a member of the Association of Workplace Investigators, the Hispanic National Bar Association and the Los Angeles County Bar Association. He has authored numerous articles on employment law that have been published by organizations such as the California State Bar and the Los Angeles County Bar Association. He was featured on the cover of the March 2018 issue of Los Angeles Lawyer Magazine.
